The Effects of Task Repetition on Child EFL Learners’ Oral Performance

While the role of task repetition has received much attention in task-based research, few studies have examined how exact affects performance child second language learners. Also, little is known about impact on trade-off effects between linguistic areas among To help fill this gap, we investigated 40 Chinese EFL learners’ oral production. The children repeated same story-telling three times, and transcripts their were coded for complexity, accuracy, fluency. Complexity was expressed terms overall complexity subordination phrasal complexity. We assessed accuracy with weighted clause ratios proportion errors. Fluency captured by repair breakdown fluency measures. Wilcoxon signed rank tests revealed positive accuracy. Trade-off observed during participants’ first had decreased third retelling. These results support Skehan’s (1998) Limited Capacity model suggest that a useful pedagogical tool instructed L2 contexts.
